Smart Web Works ("we", "us", "our") builds custom websites for Australian tradies and service businesses. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit smartwebworks.com.au or engage us to build your site, and how we handle it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
When you visit smartwebworks.com.au
Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, referrer) via Cloudflare, for security and traffic monitoring. Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics data (anonymised page views, navigation paths, conversion events) so we can see which pages and ads work.
When you submit a quote form
Your name, phone, email (if provided), suburb, business name (if provided), and your message. This goes to our inbox so we can reply with a quote.
When you engage us to build a site
Whatever you share with us during the project — business details, services, prices, photos, brand assets, email correspondence, invoice and payment records.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone, ever.
- We don't use your data to train AI models.
- We don't run advertising or third-party tracking cookies on this site.
- We don't email you marketing unless you've asked us to.
How we use it
- To reply to your quote enquiry and deliver the work you've engaged us for
- To run analytics on smartwebworks.com.au and improve it
- To send invoices and meet our tax / accounting obligations
- To keep the site secure (block abuse, debug errors)
Third parties we use
We use trusted services to run smartwebworks.com.au:
- Cloudflare — DNS, hosting, and server logs
- Google Analytics / Tag Manager — visitor analytics on this site
- Supabase (Sydney, AU) — database for quote form submissions
- Resend — outbound email when we reply to enquiries
- Gmail — email correspondence during engagements
Each of these has its own privacy policy. They only receive the data they need to perform their function, and we don't pass your data on for any other purpose.
Cookies
We use Google Analytics cookies to understand site traffic. We do not use advertising, retargeting, or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser without affecting the site.
Data storage and security
Form submissions are stored in Supabase's Sydney region. Engagement records and email live in Gmail. We use HTTPS everywhere and rotate provider credentials regularly.
Data retention
- Quote enquiries we don't end up working on: kept for 12 months, then deleted
- Active client data: kept for the engagement and 7 years after, for tax records
- After the retention period, we delete or anonymise the data
Your rights
Under Australian privacy law you can:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct it if it's wrong
- Ask us to delete it (subject to our legal retention obligations)
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au)

This policy only covers smartwebworks.com.au. Websites we build for clients have their own privacy obligations — each client is responsible for the privacy policy and data handling on their own site.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the "last updated" date at the top when we change anything. Material changes that affect current clients will be emailed.
